Pistacia Vera grows in hilly and mountainous areas, especially on sandstone soils, in temperatures ranging from -10°c in winter to 40°c in summer, up to 1500 m, and can be gardened in West Asia (Plants For A Future, n.d.-q). It is a deciduous tree with a medium growth rate of up to 10 m (32 ft 10 in). The seeds are said to have a calming and tonic effect.
Beneficial effects: It is a rich source of phenolic compounds.
