Each month I would like to speak about ancient hairstyles in different civilizations. This month I would like to speak about the Ancient Greek Hairstyles.
Classical Greece hairstyles were pulled back into a chignon style and was grown much longer.
There were many styles back then and most of them were involved in braiding the hair and fixing it to the head. They decorated their hair with flowers, headbands, ribbons and pieces of metal. Just like in the modern era, back then blondes were very rare and therefore many women tried dying their hair blonde and also red.
Ancient Greeks sprinkled gold powder into the hair. Men would have short or shaved hair and they would wear beards unless they were a soldier.
